This was my first proper “vacation” ever and by vacation, I mean a surf trip at a perfect left-hand point break in mainland Mexico for a week, without bringing tons of camera gear. Looking back, I wish I took more photos because photography is more than just a job to me. As a teenager, I fell in love with photography because it was a way to share positive experiences with my friends, express my personal vision, and to simply get outside. The past few years, surfing has taken over that form of outdoor “play” but lately I’ve been seeing a re-emergence of the drive to bring back photography as a form of play as well with an expansion of personal projects in the near future.
The majority of these photos were taken on a DxO One + Outdoor Shell with a little marine float that I would stick in a hip pack.
Seeing baby sea turtles being released into the ocean on our last day there was a dream come true! The baby turtles in the last set are part of a local non-profit organization that safely incubates, hatches and releases the turtles so they are protected from poachers and other predators.
